Huang Lou Xing – Takeaway from Hungry House

Although Hillsborough doesn’t have many restaurants, it does have an abundance of takeaways. And we’ve been trying to suss them out, but we’re already finding ourselves stuck in a bit of a fish n chips rut. So, when hungryhouse got in touch to see if I wanted to try one of the takeaways on their site, I saw it as an opportunity to remind myself that there was more to life than a chippy tea…With Chinese New Year around the corner, hungryhouse wanted me to try one of the Chinese takeaways. So, one Friday night I invited the girls round, … Continue reading Huang Lou Xing – Takeaway from Hungry House

Saudies – a hungryhouse top takeaway 2014

Following on from our Sakushi takeaway ordered through hungryhouse a couple of weeks ago, we headed back to the site to use up the last of my complimentary voucher last Friday. Fancying a curry, we were tempted by the menu at Saudies. It was a new one on us, but as it was on the hungryhouse top takeaway list, we ordered with confidence. Once again we found the ordering process nice and easy at hungryhouse. It was timely too – in fact a little too timely as it arrived earlier than we’d expected.Everything was well packed, in a combination of plastic … Continue reading Saudies – a hungryhouse top takeaway 2014

Sakushi – a hungryhouse top takeaway 2014

I recently received a lovely email from the guys at hungryhouse (and, yes, that is all one word and in lower case) asking me whether I wanted to use their takeaway service to try out a couple of their Top Takeaways for 2014. And, of course I accepted. Now, only those takeaways with good reviews, ratings and customer return rates make the Top Takeaways list so I knew we were going to be in safe hands. Having said that, I was still pleased to see Japanese restaurant, Sakushi, on the list. We’ve had a few takeaways from here and we’ve never been disappointed. Ordering … Continue reading Sakushi – a hungryhouse top takeaway 2014

Hungry Hound Pizza, Sheffield

I bought a KGB deal voucher for Hungry Hound Pizza a while back, but completely for got about it until earlier this week. With it expiring on Saturday and our wedding anniversary on Friday, I planned celebrations around pizza and a bottle of Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc (a leaving present from my Nabarro colleagues). The deal included a ‘Beast’ pizza and a couple of garlic breads and although I knew that the ‘Beasts’ were 18 inches, I didn’t really twig just how big they actually were. So when Gav returned home with the largest pizza box I HAVE EVER SEEN, … Continue reading Hungry Hound Pizza, Sheffield

Phoenix Catering, Sheffield

For most of us, the lunch hour is the most precious hour of the day. It’s great to escape the office, go for a mooch, sit in the local park or feed the ducks by the canal. Thinking about it, it can be the most amazing ‘me time’; no kids, no chores, no phones or emails… hell, you could even switch Twitter off too.So, how do we feel when this precious hour is snatched away from us, sometimes without any notice, by our employers/clients? Do we jump for joy? No. Do we scream, shout and stomp? No. We just shrug our … Continue reading Phoenix Catering, Sheffield

Can a Foodie Like a Pizza?

Of course.  Providing said Foodie is standing in some Italian square snacking on the real deal before nipping into the next wine bar. Ha!  We’re still human and I don’t know about others, but I like a drink.  And when I have a drink (rather when I have a few) I get peckish. Living in town, a lot of nights out with friends end up with everyone back at ours and the lads being sent out to fetch pizza. Normally it’s Murdoch’s.  They’re cheap and cheerful and around the corner; perfect for that 3am pizza fest.  And I tell you what, at 3am … Continue reading Can a Foodie Like a Pizza?

Home at last and Sakushi Sushi

Exams finished and finally back home (it’s always nice to come home isn’t it?), I fancied sushi and fizz.  It’s a fantastic combination and a perfect celebratory meal. I didn’t fancy going out though so I sent Gav out for the fizz (Prosecco) and ordered our sushi online from Sakushi. They have a fantastic take away and delivery service.  It’s all online, although you do have to call through to the restaurant if you want to make a card payment rather than pay in cash.  There are generally some discount codes floating around too so look out for those. I’ve … Continue reading Home at last and Sakushi Sushi

Street Food Chef – update

Well the Street Food Chef is going from strength to strength. It seems that people of Sheffield have grasped the opportunity to grab a freshly prepared piece of Mexico as they are out and about, and who can blame them? It’s easy eating, reasonably priced and darn tasty. In case that isn’t good enough reason to give this place a go, they have started using Moss Valley Fine Meats pork which is Made in Sheffield. With the hangover from hell I was quite pleased to hear that Gav fancied a trip to Street Food Chef and I placed my order with him. Shortly … Continue reading Street Food Chef – update
